Organic Produce Delivery

Hey there,
Some of you may know that I lived in Northern CA for about 7 years. I moved back to Boston about a year and a half ago. While I couldn’t be more thrilled to be back home I have to say one of the things that I miss about CA is the produce. There were farmers markets everywhere, the organic sections in the supermarkets were huge and the produce was pristine and affordable. Unfortunately I really haven’t felt the love here in Boston regarding the organic produce available. I wanted to try a different avenue so I looked into Organic Produce Delivery since the farmers markets around my area were not convenient for me. I could only find ONE delivery service. I subscribed to an organic produce delivery for a while in CA because I thought it would force me to try some new fruits and veggies. There were many different services to choose from out there. Again, only ONE delivery service here in the Boston area. The service that delivers to me is Boston Organics. I chose to do the smallest box of a mix of fruits and veggies every OTHER week. I thought this would be a good way for me to see if the produce was better and more affordable than the supermarket.

My first delivery was Friday and I was pleasantly surprised. My box had a great mix of fruit and veggies and had some staples along with some interesting items that I would not normally buy. The quality was excellent. In the picture below not sure if you can tell but the veggies are pretty dirty. I am very OK with this. I like knowing that my lettuce was grown in the dirt and not a lab.
Included in my box was"
  • 1 golden apple
  • 1lb bananas (2 ripe & 2 green)
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1 nectarine
  • 1 Bartlett pear
  • 2 oranges (I will juice these)
  • 1 med red cabbage (plan to put this in my salad and juice the rest)
  • .5lbs yellow onions
  • 1 lbs. white potatoes
  • 1 lb. delicata squash (I will chop and roast this)
  • 1 bunch of kale (Kale chips!)
  • 1 head of very green romaine lettuce

Overall, I think the quality is much better than I can find at the local supermarket and for 24$ I really think this is a fair price.
